lipid peroxidation product and glutathione levels in patients with coronary heart disease before and after surgery

چکیده
background: it has been reported that ischemia-reperfusion is associated with augmentation of oxidative stress and its specific and sensitive markers. oxidative stress may cause atrial fibrillation (af) which is a common consequence after cardiac surgery. dietary supplementation with antioxidants might lower the incidence of af following coronary artery bypass graft (cabg) surgery. materials and methods: fifty patients with coronary heart disease (chd) referred to namazi and faghihi hospitals in shiraz, undergone elective cabg, were enrolled in this study. for evaluation of oxidative stress, whole blood was taken before and 24 hours after surgery and malondialdehyde (mda) as an oxidative marker and glutathione (gsh) as an antioxidant marker were measured. results: results showed a significant difference between the mean concentration of gsh before and after cabg surgery (p <0.05); however, the difference in plasma mda levels before and after cabg was insignificant. conclusion: cabg surgery results in oxidative stress and reduces gsh 24h after surgery and administration of antioxidants may attenuate post-operative oxidative stress. The Effect of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction on Anxiety and Stress in Patients with Coronary Heart Disease after Coronary Artery Bypass Graft Surgery: A Single-Subject Study
Background and objectives: Coronary artery disease (CAD) is associated with negative emotions of anger and stress, which are one of the nonclinical risk factors of the disease. Therefore, evaluation of the effective therapeutic models alleviating the patients’ negative emotions is of paramount importance. This study aimed to examine the effect of mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) on ang...

Ameliorating effects of genestein: Study on mice liver glutathione and lipid peroxidation after irradiation
Background: Genistein is a soya isoflavone, which is found naturally in legumes, such as soybeans and chickpeas. Radiation–induced free radicals in turn impair the antioxidative defense mechanism, leading to an increased membrane lipid peroxidation that results in damage of the membrane bound enzyme and may lead to damage or death of cell. Hence, the lipid peroxidation is a good biomar...
متن کاملAnxiety and Depression in Patients with Coronary Heart Disease: A Study in a Tertiary Hospital
Anxiety and depression could reduce the quality of life, and exacerbate physical symptoms and even mortality amongst patients with coronary heart disease (CHD). The aim of this study was to investigate the incidence of anxiety and depression in patients with acute CHD. In a period from March to December 2008, the views of 108 CHD patients, hospitalized in a tertiary hospital, were solicited usi...
